Summer's gone!

I can't believe I've neglected this blog for the entire summer ..... well, here's a cute picture of the princess from yesterday. She was enjoying birthday cake icing.

July 4th Kingsville Parade

The Big 1!!!

Maddie turned one year old yesterday. Hard to believe that a year ago today I had a precious tiny new life in my arms. She slept a lot then, she still is a great sleeper now.... I feel like we blinked and the year passed. Here's what she fit into that tiny window of life - in the past 365 days, our little princess....

Awed me every time I looked at her.
Became big brother's little sis and playing buddy.
Met daddy...and wrapped him around her tiny fingers.
Reluctantly let us give her a noonie... Now she has to have at least 3 in her crib.
Smiled at me for the first time at 1 1/2 months.
Made best friends with her pink puppy - make that 4 pink puppies.
Got her haircut for the first time at 6 months, since then she's had two more.
Learned to crawl at 7 months.
Took her first step at 9 1/2 months and at 11 months and 2 weeks started walking confidently without needing (or wanting) our help.
Met our new 'adopted' pet - Xuxa.
Made it clear to Xuxa that dog bowls are one of her favorite things....and what's in them too.
Learned to dance!

We learned our lesson with Ben and Ducky - only one favorite stuffed toy gets you in trouble eventually. So when Maddie started getting attached to the pink puppy, we started buying more. There are currently 4 or 5 puppies around here....We won't have to worry about her losing her favorite pink puppy. Ever!

11 Months and 2 weeks

She was taking two or three steps and falling into a crawl, now she's all feet!

The Hair Experiment

So. Maddie's got a ton of hair and I've been chomping at the bits to do something different with it, thing is - she's not a fan of anything on her head these days. She pulls clips out the minute they're on. She shakes her head incessantly until the band comes off. Pig tails though ... she sat still long enough to get them on, and she forgot all about her hair that day.
